Aileen and Zac and were married in front of their family and friends on February 16, 2019. Their ceremony was held at Presentation BVM in Wynnewood, and it was followed by dinner and dancing at the beautiful  Crystal Tea Room in Philadelphia.

               

The couple met at work, but they didn’t start dating until Zac moved to New York. After two years of being friends, he invited her to be his date to a friend’s wedding, and the rest is history! They did a long distance relationship for a bit, and then Zac moved back to Philadelphia.

   

Zac and his family are longtime Sixers fans, so it was no surprise to Aileen that the two ended up at a Sixer’s game on Valentine’s Day. It was an exciting game, so Aileen thought it was strange when he suggested they leave the game early; little did she know he had something even more exciting in store. He proposed on a picturesque street in Philadelphia, and she of course, said yes!

Aileen and Zac are an interfaith couple, and rather than having a non denominational wedding, it was important to both that their wedding celebrate not just their love, but also the distinct faiths that helped shape them. Aileen’s priest and Zac’s rabbi worked with one another, and with the couple, to select prayers, readings, and songs that would compliment one another and highlight the shared values that exist between these two religions. The priest even allowed them to build a chuppah on the alter, which they stood beneath during the ceremony.

Their inclusive approach is a testament to the old adage  “if the ties that bind us are stronger than the ones that would tear us apart, anything is possible” We have all the faith in the world, that these two have a wonderful lifetime ahead of them!

As wedding florists, our focus, of course, is bringing to life beautiful floral designs for a wedding – But we understand that this wedding is a day to commemorate and celebrate a long standing relationship that we hope will last a lifetime.

When we first started designing wedding flowers, we would hear updates about our couples “the old fashioned way” – a bride would refer a friend, and she would offer us news about how the couple was doing, or a bride’s mom would call and ask us to make flowers for a baby shower 🙂

With the rise of social media, were are fortunate to be able to keep tabs so to speak on many of our couples as they share images from their honeymoon, post baby announcements or home purchases, etc.

Never have we had any, let alone four (!) of our couples, followed by TV cameras to document the trials and tribulations of their marriage … but that has been the case for us this year as we were selected to be the florist for Season 8 of Lifetime TV’s Married at First Sight!

We are used to multitasking and balancing more than one event in a weekend, but even for us, four weddings in four days was quite a fete! We were thrilled to have the opportunity to try something completely new, and it was fun to collaborate and create four completely different looks for four brides.

As we all know, the wedding is just one day. It is what happens every day after that that determines what comes next. As we head into the finale of Married at First Sight, we are eager to see which of these couples will truly get their happily ever after! Who do you think will make it?!

If last spring was all about soft, romantic colors and all things rustic luxe – This year the pendulum is swinging full force back into the world of color and texture. Vibrant, rich, and bold, this year’s bride isn’t afraid to make a statement. From floral bridesmaid’s gowns to cascading centerpieces, these are the hot floral trends for 2019:

 

1.  Complimentary Colors

One of the biggest shifts in bridal trends is the move away from uniformity in favor of cohesion. The days of “macthing” bridesmaids is becoming a thing of the past, as more and more brides want their attendants to have more agency in what they want to wear. Brides are more interested in presenting a feeling as opposed to a look, and one of the best ways to achieve that is using a color palette as opposed to a single color. Whether its bridesmaids wearing complimentary colors, or a tablescape filled with mixed metals, this season’s bride wants to create depth and dimension with color.

2.  Bold Hues

In keeping with our first trend, our brides are picking bolder colors that pack a punch! This past fall and winter were filled with rich, berry hues and this spring is all about coral and citrus inspired palettes. These colors are warm and sunny, and work beautifully with green, which continues to dominate the wedding landscape.

3. Asymmetrical Designs

In keeping with the move away from uniformity, identical centerpieces and floral displays are being replaced with flowing, asymmetrical installations that feel as if they are a living landscape upon a table. This trend blends the natural elements of boho chic with the return of color, and the result is breathtaking.

In the wedding industry, styled shoots are coordinated photo shoots that allow a variety of wedding industry experts to showcase their talents. Sometimes they are used for editorial purposes, but what we love about them most is the way(s) in which they let us celebrate and cultivate the culture of collaboration that exists in the wedding industry.

When the average person looks at a picture of a couple at their wedding reception, he or she sees a beautiful bride smiling along side her new spouse … and that’s what you should see! What many don’t realize though, is that that photo is a culmination of many layers of time, talent, and love. A hair and makeup artist accentuated the bride’s natural beauty; a bridal salon worked with the bride and her loved ones to find THE dress; a florist created a bouquet and centerpieces that reflect the wedding’s specific theme; a wedding coordinator and/or event manager helped the couple pick linens that would compliment the space, and of course, a photographer made sure the lighting was literally, picture perfect.

Styled shoots allow industry insiders to work together to create original work, work that is not only creative and fun, but also serves as inspiration for those who are planning a wedding! We love when a couple comes to us with a very specific vision. We love listening to their ideas, their color scheme, the mood they want to create, etc. Many times, though, couples come to us and want help deciding the bouquet style, centerpiece designs etc. Styled shoots help us show prospective brides ideas and inspirational looks that they can pull from when creating their big day.

 The Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts is one of the most unique wedding venues in Philadelphia, and we always love the opportunity to design flowers for this space. Jacquie and JD’s beautiful fall wedding was no exception.

The couple got ready for their special day at the Logan Hotel, where they were surrounded by family, close friends, and their four children.  They had their “first look” photos at the Logan, and made their way to the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, where they held their ceremony and reception.

The bride and her attendants looked radiant in their ivory and blush tones, and the flowers complimented the soft, romantic color palette. The couple made the most of the museum, holding the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception in three distinct halls, and each space had its own distinct look, but all three were united by the love and laughter that filled the rooms that night!

Laura and Dave were married at the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul in downtown Philadelphia and were joined by family and friends for a reception at the Philadelphia Horticultural Society in Fairmount. Bold berry colors were paired with soft blushes; a black and white dance floor sparkled by candlelight.

 

Rather than aiming for a uniform look, this couple opted to add individuality and depth to the feel of their wedding by dressing bridesmaids in complimentary dress and flower girls in gorgeous capes; rather than a ‘traditional’ white bouquet, the bride and her attendants carried colorful bouquets filled with berry ranunculus, deep odessa calla lilies and anemones. This couple incorporated color in a romantic way, and the final look was truly a breath of fresh air!

 

The whole day was coordinated by the ever talented Truly You Events, and the beautiful images below were captured by Hoffer Photography. The wonderful food was prepared by Constellation Culinary, and the gorgeous lighting throughout the Horticultural Center was provided by Eventions Productions.  The invitations were created by Caitlin Jane Calligraphy. All floral designs by Petals Lane Inc.

  

 

 

Tori and Brian were married on November 17, 2018, and their first meeting seems to have been written in the stars. Tori’s sister and brother in law listed their Philadelphia home, and Brian, who did not yet know Tori, was the lucky buyer. Only after he bought the home, did mutual friends realize the connection and suggest they meet. The newlyweds now share the home once owned by the bride’s sister! They were married at Saint Thomas of Villanova, and they held their reception at historic Merion Golf Club, locations that hold each hold significance to the couple. Even the photographer who captured their big day was the same photographer who photographed the bride’s parents when they married years ago. It was very clear that every choice this couple for their wedding made was one that honored an important time and/or tradition in their families. Every detail had a story, and we feel so fortunate to have been a part of this day that was filled with timeless beauty.

Meghan and Jimmy’s Cape May wedding was truly picture perfect! Every detail was a reflection of their love – love for one another, love for their family, love for the magnificent seaside. They both love the shore, they got engaged down the shore, so it seemed only fitting to hold their wedding … by the sea. They were married at Our Lady Star of the Sea in Cape May and held their reception on the beach at the Beach Club of Cape May. Working with some of the best in the business, every detail, from the invitations and place cards to the bridal party gifts were an extension of the couple and the aesthetic they wanted for their very special day. Shades of blue were accented with ivory and touches of gold. Guests ate dinner overlooking the ocean and danced the night away surrounded by the sea breeze. It truly was ‘a shore’ thing!

Marisa and Damaris were married on September 21, 2018 at the beautiful Lake House Inn in Quakertown. The color scheme of the wedding was an extension of the beautiful surroundings – soft greens, watery blues, natural wood tones. The ceremony was held outside, and Mother Nature did not disappoint! These breathtakingly beautiful brides were surrounded by their family and friends as they made their vows to one another. After the ceremony, they enjoyed cocktail hour, dinner, and lots of dancing inside the ballroom. It was such a pleasure working with this lovely couple and we wish them a lifetime of happiness!
